Since earning a diploma in trumpet from the Istituto Musicale di “G. Donizetti” (Gaetano Donizetti Music Institute) in Bergamo, Paolo Belloli has dedicated his talents to conducting, engaging the favourable attention of both critics and the public in Italy and abroad. Under the tutelage of Conductor Donato Renzetti, Mr. Belloli graduated with distinction in Orchestral Conducting from the Scuola Superiore di Musica di Pescara where he also attended a master in opera performance. He graduated with honours in conducting and composition at the Music Conservatory “G. Verdi” in Milan. Since 2003, he also served as Artistic Director of the Music Season at the “Filodrammatici” Theatre in Treviglio (BG – ITALY).

His repertoire ranges from Baroque to early 20th Century symphonic, choral-symphonic music and opera. As an opera conductor, Belloli debuted with Giacomo Puccini’s “Boheme.” Since then, he has conducted several opera productions including Verdi’s “Traviata” and “Rigoletto”, “Trovatore,” Carl Orff “Carmina Burana,” Mozart “Le Nozze di Figaro” in Osaka (Japan), Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly” and “Gianni Schicchi”. Since 2011 he collaborates as conductor with the “I Pomeriggi Musicali” Orchestra of Milan. In November 2013, he conducted the closing production of the Opera Season at the Donizetti Theatre of Bergamo with the world premier of Michele Varriale’s “La Finta Semplice.” In March 2014, maestro Belloli was invited to lead master classes in conducting at Meredith College, in Raleigh, North Carolina, and at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He also conducted the UNC Symphony Orchestra. During the same year he founded “I Musici del Teatro” Orchestra, based in Treviglio (BG) and, since 2009, he is the principal conductor of Orchestra Filarmonica Italiana.
On the 13rd of February 2015 he conducted the first Italian performance of Flos Campi, “Suite for Viola, Choir and Orchestra” by Ralph Vaughan Williams – with viola soloist Simonide Braconi and the “I Musici del Teatro” Orchestra.
Recently he recorded a DVD with Mozart Piano Concertos, K 449 and K 488 with pianist Francesco Attesti and Arezzo Chamber Orchestra edite by Drycastle Records.
This year he conducted “Il Trovatore” by Verdi at the National Theatre in Belgrade (Serbia).
